Nepal Climate Action Challenge

Challenge Snapshot

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Despite the natural beauty of the Himalayas, Nepal faces significant environmental challenges.

Air pollution in and around Kathmandu has been escalating rapidly, posing serious health risks to the local population. Additionally, the widespread use of single-use plastics across the country, coupled with low recycling rates, exacerbates the problem.

Did you know: plastics are often disposed of by burning, further contributing to the already hazardous levels of air pollution.

Making an Impact

Take Climate Action into your own hands!

As a participant on this program, you will be at the forefront of change as you work on some of our long-term development projects, aimed at tackling environmental issues in Nepal. You will be supported by our team on the ground while you:

Participate in tree planting activities to help reduce air pollution in the local area, as well as offsetting the carbon emissions of your travel!*

Facilitate educational workshops in the community that raise environmental awareness and discuss the importance of sustainability! You could focus on the long-term impacts of single use plastics, benefits of recycling and ways to reduce their carbon footprint.

Become an ambassador for change by organising community clean ups with our local partner schools!

*Participating in this activity may depend on your field of study or previous experience.

*FYI: this is a carbon neutral program.

Let’s work together to create a greener and more sustainable world for everyone!

By the end of our time spent at the school we all felt we had made strong connections with the students and they had understood the importance of keeping their school and environment clean and to stop littering. Overall, my challenges abroad experience is one I will never forget. I learnt so much and I will carry it with me for the rest of my life.
