The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted gaps in the healthcare system in Peru, straining resources and affecting vulnerable populations. Non-communicable diseases, mental health and nutritional deficiencies pose prominent issues across rural areas. By raising awareness of these issues and promoting public health initiatives, we are working towards creating a healthier future for Peruvian communities.
Supported by our team on the ground, you will work with local community members in the Sacred Valley, including school children, teachers and parents. As you contribute to our long-term health education projects, your goal will be to improve overall community health. This program is very hands-on, and you can expect to be involved in:
Designing and delivering workshops on essential health and well-being topics such as diet and nutrition, mental health, women’s health and hygiene as well as non-communicable diseases!
These workshops will play a big role in increasing the overall health of the community, as locals will receive the knowledge that they need to keep themselves and their families healthy.
Working on a renovation project at one of our local partners schools to help continue raising awareness of these topics! You could be installing and hand washing station or painting an educational mural.
Participating in climate action activities such as community clean ups and tree-planting! *
