- Uganda
- Education & Community
Challenge Snapshot
- Interactive learning through conversational English, STEM, and creative arts workshops.
- An unforgettable Ugandan adventure filled with community, wildlife, and culture.
- Help teach English & digital skills in local schools
Overview
Uganda is known for its incredible wildlife, lush landscapes and warm hospitality. In Jinja, where the River Nile begins its journey north, you’ll experience a different side of the country, one shaped by community, culture and connection.
As part of your challenge, you’ll work alongside local teams to help build a playground that will give children a safe, welcoming space for recreation and learning. You’ll also take part in Learning Through Play activities, using games, creative activities and hands-on sessions to encourage curiosity, participation and confidence. Working directly with local children and community members, you’ll see how play can support education and create positive experiences in the classroom and beyond.
Through practical work, teamwork and cultural exchange, you’ll develop new skills, build confidence and gain a deeper understanding of the community you’re working with.
When you’re not on the project, discover Jinja’s vibrant streets and markets, experience traditional music and dance, sample authentic Ugandan cuisine, or spend your free weekend exploring the Nile.

Are you looking to elevate your experience?
Build your own community of people who care and inspire a team of Global Citizens to join you on this epic adventure. This is your chance to step up as a global leader and showcase your awesome leadership skills.
Not only will you feel a great sense of achievement, but it’s an experience that’s guaranteed to make you stand out in any future employment opportunity.
Are flights included?
Flights aren’t included in the programme cost because many participants choose to extend their travels before or after the programme, so booking flights independently gives you the flexibility to arrange your own travel plans. It also works out more cost efficient if you book them.
Do I need any previous experience or qualifications?
You don’t need any previous experience or qualifications to join most of our programmes. We provide comprehensive preparation and support before departure, as well as a detailed Programme Orientation on arrival in-country, ensuring participants feel confident and ready to contribute to the programme.
Can I raise money to fund my trip?
Absolutely! This is something we encourage you to do, and we’ll help you set up an official fundraising page so you can share it with your network to collect donations.
What is the accommodation like?
You’ll either be staying at our hub, or a local partner guesthouse in dorm-style accommodation, sharing your room with up to three other participants. There are western showers and toilets, as well as communal spaces for relaxing. While you will be provided with home comforts, they will be different to your usual standards and all part of the challenge!
