Where you’ll be based!

Set at the foothills of Mount Meru and surrounded by the stunning landscapes of northern Tanzania, Arusha offers a unique glimpse into the country’s vibrant culture and natural beauty. Our Hub is based in this lively city, a gateway to both community projects and iconic safari destinations.

In your free time, you can explore bustling local markets, stroll through tree-lined streets, visit cultural centers, and take in views of the surrounding mountains and savannah. Arusha provides the perfect mix of adventure, culture, and local immersion during your Tanzanian experience.

Tanzania’s rural communities face ongoing social and economic challenges, particularly in access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Despite progress in development, many underserved areas still lack the support needed to overcome these barriers and improve long-term community wellbeing.

Our team is based on the ground all year round, working hand in hand with the local community – this ensures that all our programs meet current community needs and are part of a long-term plan that aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. By joining a program in Tanzania, and contributing to our community projects, you will use your skills, knowledge and passions to create lasting, positive impact.

Tanzania Social Impact Challenge

Challenge Overview

In Tanzania, schools face severe overcrowding, with the average primary school classroom accommodating around 50 students. Compounding this challenge, dropout rates are high, with only 38% of school students completing secondary school.

By supporting local schools through educational initiatives, you will help to provide learning opportunities, improve classroom engagement, and help learners build the skills and confidence they need to succeed. Your contribution to this program can make a lasting impact on the lives of the learners and the wider community.

Honestly, it was the best 2 weeks, and I would do it again in a heartbeat... Sharing this journey with such a positive and supportive team made the experience even more meaningful, and it reminded me of the power of community, even across different cultures and backgrounds.

Tanzania Health Promotion Challenge

Challenge Overview

Arusha, like many regions in Tanzania, faces significant health challenges that affect local communities. Communicable diseases such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, and respiratory infections remain common, while non-communicable conditions like diabetes and hypertension are on the rise. Maternal and child health concerns, malnutrition and limited access to clean water and sanitation also impact wellbeing, particularly in low-income households.

Our Health Promotion Challenge focuses on health promotion, education, and community awareness campaigns. You will play a vital role by delivering workshops, supporting local initiatives, and helping improve overall community health and resilience.

It was an amazing experience; there’s nothing I would change about it. I’ve made such great friendships and have enjoyed leaving my handprint on the world.
