Land of Smiles

Many know Thailand for its tropical islands and beaches in the south, but often miss out on experiencing the incredible culture, taste and sights of mountainous northern Thailand! From ancient temples, hilltop viewpoints, delicious street food and tropical forests, northern Thailand promises an unforgettable adventure.

Whether you want to explore a side of Thailand you’ve not experienced, develop your skills and practice your passions, or tick a new country off your bucket list, look no further!

A destination filled with breathtaking landscapes, rich culture, and meaningful opportunities to give back.

Where you’ll be based!

You will be based at our Hub in the quaint town of Mae Sariang. Here you’ll get to se a more authentic side to Thailand, away from the popular tourist areas. Mae Sariang is surrounded by temples, rice fields and incredible mountain views. Only 4 hours away is the bustling city of Chiang Mai, known for its incredible night markets, ancient temples and natural sites, not to mention our partner elephant sanctuary!

Nestled in the scenic mountains are also one of Thailand’s hidden gems – the Hill Tribes. These unique communities offer a glimpse into traditional village life, vibrant customs and artisanal crafts.

Despite its booming tourism industry, many communities in Thailand still face significant social and economic challenges. Rural areas often lack access to quality education, healthcare and income-generating opportunities, leaving many families living at or below the poverty line.

Our team is based on the ground all year round, working hand in hand with the local community – this ensures that all our programs meet current community needs and are part of a long-term plan that aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. By joining a program in Thailand, and contributing to our community projects, you will use your skills, knowledge and passions to create lasting, positive impact.

Thailand Social Impact Challenge

Challenge Overview

A major challenge facing communities in Thailand is the limited access to quality education. Without it, community members struggle to develop the skills needed for employment and break the cycle of poverty.

Many schools, especially in rural areas, are underfunded and often lack qualified English teachers – a key skill for success in higher education and future careers – due to their geographical isolation. This is where you come in! By joining our Thailand Social Impact Challenge, you will help to inspire local learners in their education as you contribute to long-term education projects in Thailand.

Honestly, it was the best 2 weeks, and I would do it again in a heartbeat... Sharing this journey with such a positive and supportive team made the experience even more meaningful, and it reminded me of the power of community, even across different cultures and backgrounds.

Thailand Health Promotion Challenge

Challenge Overview

Thailand faces several major health challenges – due to their geography, the community in Mae Sariang and surrounding Hill Tribes lack access to healthcare services and education.

These health challenges include both infectious and non-communicable diseases, as well as growing environmental health concerns. Our Health Promotion Challenge plays a vital role in raising awareness, improving health education, and strengthening community capacity for emergency response.

It was an amazing experience; there’s nothing I would change about it. I’ve made such great friendships and have enjoyed leaving my handprint on the world.

Thailand Elephant & Hill Tribes Challenge

Challenge Overview

In the last 3 generations, elephant populations in Asia have decreased by around 50%.

Human expansion into natural habitats has put Asian elephants under increasing pressure, with many forced to work in the logging and tourism industries. Today, fewer than 50,000 Asian elephants remain in the wild.

The challenges extend beyond elephants – in Thailand’s northern Hill Tribe communities, up to 33% of people live below the poverty line, compared to the national average of 7%. Schools in the region are often underfunded, lacking teachers and basic resources, which limits children’s access to quality education.

This is your sign to join a global movement to end animal cruelty and use your skills and passions to inspire young learners in their education!

The fact that I was able to complete the trip has made me learn that I'm more capable than I previously believed! Overall, a very good learning experience and would recommend it if you're up for a good challenge.
