Monday – Friday you’ll be contributing to a local community project. Working in a team, you will design hands-on and engaging activities to inspire young learners in their education. By supporting local schools, you’ll help boost confidence and participation for local learners – leaving a legacy of empowerment that lasts long after you return home.

Your home during our Social Impact Challenge

Nestled between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans – and home to some of the most diverse biodiversity on the planet – our Panama Hub is a stunning place to kickstart your journey as a global citizen. With support from our on-the-ground team, you’ll contribute to projects that address real community needs while building your confidence and skills. Between meaningful project days, you’ll soak up vibrant Panamanian culture, explore lush walking trails, and maybe even spot a sloth in the wild. It’s your chance to experience the heart of Panama’s lifestyle and traditions while creating lasting, positive change in the community.

Cost Inclusions

24/7 In-Country Support
  • Our in-country team will provide you with full support during your time in Panama, from the moment you arrive at the airport to when you board your flight home.
  • Your team will get a dedicated group mentor who will be with you every step of the way – guiding you through community activities, helping you to navigate challenges and ensuring that your time in Panama is as safe as it is impactful.
  • You will stay in shared dorm-style rooms and bathrooms.
  • You’ll likely be sharing your room with 2-3 other participants.
  • While you will be provided with home comforts, these will be different to your usual standards, but all part of the challenge!
  • There are plenty of spaces for group planning or relaxing after project, and the potential to meet other Global Citizens from across Australia and the UK.
  • We provide 3 vegetarian meals per day Monday-Friday and can accommodate further dietary requirements (vegan, gluten free, allergies etc).
  • You are free to explore local restaurants at the weekend!
  • Any required transport for project work, as well as airport transfers.
  • Our team are also happy to help you organise extra transport to explore the area in your free time.
  • Your dedicated group mentor will be there to welcome you at the airport as you arrive in Panama.
  • We will make sure that you’re dropped off in time for your departure flight once it’s time to say goodbye.

Every Challenges Abroad participant gets:

  • A yellow t-shirt to wear during community engagement activities
  • A luggage tag
  • A re-usable water bottle
  • Tote bag for the ultimate sustainable travel experience

Leading up to your Challenge, you’ll have the full support of our team. From guidance on flights and visas, to packing tips – we’ll be here every step of the way. Around 6 weeks before you travel, we’ll also invite you to a pre-departure briefing where you’ll:

  • Meet your team
  • Be introduced to our in-country team
  • Go through a final travel checklist to make sure that you’re well prepared for your awesome adventure!

This once in a lifetime Challenge allows the perfect opportunity to:

  • Expand your global network as you meet Global Citizens from across the globe.
  • Develop strong transferrable skills (leadership, adaptability, communication and more) that will help to boost your resume.
  • Make a real impact on the world as you contribute to sustainable development projects.

Independent Costs

Flights

Once you’re registered for this Challenge, you will receive a Welcome Pack which will include guidance on arrival and departure times to help when booking your flights. 

US passport holders do not need a visa for travelling to Panama – please let us know if you’ll be travelling on a different passport, and we can provide you with some more information on the visa application.

We recommend booking an appointment with your doctor so that they can review your vaccination history and make appropriate recommendations for what you might need when travelling to Panama.

We require all participants to have fully comprehensive travel insurance when travelling on our programs.

As accommodation, transport and food are provided during your Challenge, you will only need personal spending money for any additional adventures in your free time and for any souvenir shopping you might want to do!
