Overview
There’s a moment just after sunrise in Luang Prabang when the mist still clings to the Mekong and the town’s golden temple spires catch the first light, a quiet reminder that some places really do live up to the postcard. You’ll work alongside local schools and educators to deliver engaging workshops while experiencing the culture, traditions, and hospitality that make Laos unforgettable.
As part of a team of Global Citizens, you’ll design and deliver interactive workshops in local schools, covering topics such as conversational English, STEM, creative arts, and environmental awareness. Beyond the project, explore golden temples, vibrant night markets, and breathtaking waterfalls, returning home with new skills, lifelong friendships, and a fresh perspective on the world.

Laos: Where Your Impact Begins

Check out our FAQs!
Will this conflict with my exams, dissertation, or term dates?
Not at all! All trip dates are specifically scheduled around UK University holiday windows (summer or Easter breaks) to ensure zero overlap with your academic deadlines or exam periods. In the lead-up to departure, the pre-departure commitment is light and flexible, just occasional monthly team catch-ups that you can easily fit around your studies.
How will taking part in a Challenge benefit my CV?
A Challenge is a massive differentiator on your CV. Through our Global Citizenship framework, you’ll gain practical experience in cross-cultural communication, project leadership, problem-solving, and resilience, all skills top graduate employers actively look for. Upon completing your trip, you’ll also receive an official certificate of completion to showcase your impact and skills.
What happens if my circumstances change or I can no longer travel?
We know life happens! If your circumstances change, we offer flexible transfer options allowing you to move your spot to a different trip date or defer to the following year. We also have standard cooling-off terms at registration.
How safe is the trip, and who will be looking after us?
Your safety is our absolute priority. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be supported by full-time, experienced Challenges Abroad in-country staff, and we only use fully vetted accommodation and transport. You’ll also receive comprehensive pre-departure safety briefings, so you feel completely prepared every step of the way.
“There is not a better feeling than feeling like you’ve made a difference. This challenge gave me that opportunity. Living, working and playing in Peru enabled me to see, hear, feel and taste this beautiful culture and I’m forever grateful for the Challenges Abroad team for ensuring my safety and well-being when it came to trying new food and climbing to new heights. It took my breath away- literally!”
