Our Risk Management Approach

When our students travel overseas, safety is not a feature of the programme, it's the foundation that it's built on.

Every Challenges Abroad programme is designed through a structured risk management framework. Activities undergo detailed safety planning, emergency scenarios are mapped in advance, and our in-country teams are trained and fully briefed before the students arrive.

Our safety approach aligns with DFAT (Smartraveller) guidance, international travel risk management practices, and recognised critical incident management frameworks. Programme safety planning is continuously reviewed and refined to reflect the real conditions students will encounter on the ground.

Our Safety Commitments

Built for Schools & Universities

We understand the trust you place in us when sending students overseas. That’s why every part of our risk management framework is designed to support our partners, protect students, and give parents peace of mind.

Want to review our procedures in detail?

We’re happy to walk you through our full risk management documentation – no questions are off limits.

No third parties

During your Challenges Abroad programme, you will be supporting our charity FutureSense Foundation, helping our community partners (schools, monasteries and health centres). We oversee every aspect of your programme to make sure you won’t engage in risky or dangerous activities and that your impactful travel will make a real difference in the local community.

We’re not linked to any large tour companies or similar organisations, because we believe the only way to ensure your safety and a positive impact in the community is by developing and implementing our programmes ourselves.

If you have any more questions, please drop us a message, we’ll be happy to help!
