Peru Machu Picchu Challenge
Make a real difference in local communities while exploring Peru’s culture, landscapes, and people.
- Peru
- Wildlife & Adventure
Challenge Snapshot
- Trek the Sacred Valley & Machu Picchu.
- Teach & volunteer in Andean community schools.
- Fundraise to expand education access across Peru.
Overview
Imagine combining meaningful community impact with one of the world’s most iconic trekking experiences. In Peru’s breathtaking Sacred Valley, you’ll spend your days inspiring young learners through hands-on education projects before taking on the unforgettable 5-day Salkantay Trek to the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu.
Many schools in rural Peru continue to face challenges including limited resources, underfunding, and fewer opportunities for practical, hands-on learning. By sharing your skills, creativity, and enthusiasm, you’ll assist local schools in creating engaging learning experiences that build confidence, inspire curiosity, and encourage children to dream bigger.
Working alongside our local team, you’ll deliver conversational English sessions, facilitate Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) and life skills workshops, and support environmental initiatives through community clean-ups and tree planting.
- Focused on UN Sustainability Goals

Are flights included?
Flights aren’t included in the programme cost because many participants choose to extend their travels before or after the programme, so booking flights independently gives you the flexibility to arrange your own travel plans. It also works out more cost efficient if you book them.
Do I need any previous experience or qualifications?
You don’t need any previous experience or qualifications to join most of our programmes. We provide comprehensive preparation and support before departure, as well as a detailed Programme Orientation on arrival in-country, ensuring participants feel confident and ready to contribute to the programme.Â
Can I raise money to fund my trip?
Absolutely! This is something we encourage you to do, and we’ll help you set up an official fundraising page so you can share it with your network to collect donations.
What is the accommodation like?
You’ll either be staying at our hub, or a local partner guesthouse in dorm-style accommodation, sharing your room with up to three other participants. There are western showers and toilets, as well as communal spaces for relaxing. While you will be provided with home comforts, they will be different to your usual standards and all part of the challenge!
