Nepal Climate Action Challenge
Make a real difference in local communities while exploring Nepal’s culture, landscapes, and people.
- Nepal
- Sustainability
Challenge Snapshot
- Help to restore Himalayan forest ecosystems.
- Support clean water & renewable energy projects.
- Learn sustainable agriculture with local farmers.
Overview
Climate action starts with everyday choices, and in Nepal, those choices can make a lasting difference. Based in the historic city of Bhaktapur, you’ll work alongside local communities to tackle environmental challenges through hands-on sustainability projects, education, and community action.
Despite the breathtaking beauty of Nepal faces growing environmental challenges. Air pollution around Kathmandu continues to rise, while single-use plastics and limited recycling systems place increasing pressure on both people and the environment. In many communities, plastic waste is burned instead of recycled, adding to already hazardous air pollution levels. Building environmental awareness and encouraging sustainable practices are key to creating healthier, more resilient communities.
As part of a team of Global Citizens, you’ll take action by delivering engaging environmental workshops, participating in tree-planting initiatives that support the regeneration of the Kathmandu Valley ecosystem, and organising community clean-ups with local schools.
- Focused on UN Sustainability Goals

Build your own community of people who care and inspire a team of Global Citizens to join you on this epic adventure. This is your chance to step up as a global leader and showcase your awesome leadership skills.
Not only will you feel a great sense of achievement, but it’s an experience that’s guaranteed to make you stand out in any future employment opportunity.
Are flights included?
Flights aren’t included in the programme cost because many participants choose to extend their travels before or after the programme, so booking flights independently gives you the flexibility to arrange your own travel plans. It also works out more cost efficient if you book them.
Do I need any previous experience or qualifications?
You don’t need any previous experience or qualifications to join most of our programmes. We provide comprehensive preparation and support before departure, as well as a detailed Programme Orientation on arrival in-country, ensuring participants feel confident and ready to contribute to the programme.
Can I raise money to fund my trip?
Absolutely! This is something we encourage you to do, and we’ll help you set up an official fundraising page so you can share it with your network to collect donations.
What is the accommodation like?
You’ll either be staying at our hub, or a local partner guesthouse in dorm-style accommodation, sharing your room with up to three other participants. There are western showers and toilets, as well as communal spaces for relaxing. While you will be provided with home comforts, they will be different to your usual standards and all part of the challenge!
