Peru Community Paramedic Challenge
Make a real difference in local communities while exploring Peru’s culture, landscapes, and people.
- Peru
Challenge Snapshot
- Design & deliver interactive first aid and CPR workshops that strengthen emergency response skills within rural communities.
- Design & deliver engaging workshops that inspire learning and dynamic classrooms.
- Help deliver health education workshops in rural communities.
Overview
Imagine developing your paramedic skills surrounded by the breathtaking Andes. Based in Peru’s spectacular Sacred Valley, you’ll work alongside rural communities to deliver practical first aid and CPR education while experiencing the rich culture, traditions, and everyday life of one of South America’s most remarkable destinations.
Many rural communities face challenges accessing emergency care and first aid training due to limited healthcare resources and long response times. Working as part of a team, you’ll design and deliver engaging first aid and CPR workshops, create practical community health education sessions, and, depending on your year level and programme requirements, may also have opportunities to engage with local health professionals and support community pop-up clinics.
To take your experience even further, you may have the opportunity to complete an optional Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course in the Peruvian Andes. Through realistic outdoor scenarios, you’ll build confidence in remote patient care while strengthening your communication, teamwork, leadership, and clinical decision-making skills, making this an unforgettable experience both professionally and personally.

Build your own community of people who care and inspire a team of Global Citizens to join you on this epic adventure. This is your chance to step up as a global leader and showcase your awesome leadership skills.

Are flights included?
Flights aren’t included in the programme cost because many participants choose to extend their travels before or after the programme, so booking flights independently gives you the flexibility to arrange your own travel plans. It also works out more cost efficient if you book them.
Do I need any previous experience or qualifications?
You don’t need any previous experience or qualifications to join most of our programmes. We provide comprehensive preparation and support before departure, as well as a detailed Programme Orientation on arrival in-country, ensuring participants feel confident and ready to contribute to the programme.
Can I raise money to fund my trip?
Absolutely! This is something we encourage you to do, and we’ll help you set up an official fundraising page so you can share it with your network to collect donations.
What is the accommodation like?
You’ll either be staying at our hub, or a local partner guesthouse in dorm-style accommodation, sharing your room with up to three other participants. There are western showers and toilets, as well as communal spaces for relaxing. While you will be provided with home comforts, they will be different to your usual standards and all part of the challenge!
